Cebu Hub’s Strategic Planning 2024: Setting A Shaper’s Mindset

This year’s hub curatorship established momentum by starting it with strategic planning. Held last July 20, 2024, at the Camino Beach House, Liloan, Cebu, this strategic planning activity marks the hub’s continuous commitment to shaping Cebu.

Earl Ng, our curator, led the session by highlighting the activities done during his attendance at the Global Shapers Annual Summit 2024. Our curator presented the current updates from the headquarters. He even shared best practices for introducing the hub to other shapers worldwide. It was also this time that our twin city hub was revealed.

As the planning session continued, the engagement became an avenue for the shapers to connect and discuss the way forward. Our new committee heads took time to communicate their ideas and action plans for the year. Moreover, insights were shared by each shaper, which helped in making every decision finely curated.

As we gear up to achieving our goals, this year of the Cebu Hub is a must-look-forward year, as we will host the Philippine National Retreat in person. Plus, our upcoming projects are something not to be missed.

That day of strategizing reminds us of the significance of setting a shaper’s mindset. It is a power to dare to continually grow. Because shaping a destination is more than just envisioning the route. It is a process in which we mindfully acknowledge our definition of growth and success and give ourselves a chance to further excel. The hub’s triumph is not only measured through its number of projects but through understanding its growth phase to better address what it needs to ensure its perpetuation.

It was a valuable opportunity to witness the commitment of every shaper to improve the hub and the community. That day was more than just a typical meeting and goal-setting. By then, I have seen how visions are turned to shape the future we want. On that rainy afternoon, no downpour could dampen the fire the shapers wanted to ignite.

This strategic planning holds significance for the hub to acknowledge its roots, efforts made, what it could do, and most importantly, appreciate what it has now. This one-day session taught me what it is to be a Cebu Shaper.

As they say, you may stumble seven times but stand up eight. In this ever-changing realm, Global Shapers Cebu persists to thrive and adapt. In many stumbles, there will be countless of rising up better. Global Shapers Cebu is a hub in the pursuit of excellence beyond recognition.
